According to NAMI, 1 in every 5 adults and 1 out of 6 youths experience a mental illness each year. An article from the National Education Association reports that 44% of college students show symptoms of depression. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health challenge, followed by depression. NAMI also reports the average time between when people begin having symptoms of mental illness and seeking treatment is 11 years!


While this might sound frightening, it also sounds like an opportunity for change. Our mental health is on a spectrum much like our physical health, from periods of feeling great to times that are more challenging than we would like.
